Kinesiology taping (KT) is a form of taping that is used to prevent and treatment of sport injuries. KT is becoming increasingly popular within the sporting arena and you might have spotted someone on the street or a sportsman on TV wearing these colourful tapes.

It was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase in the 1970's with the intention to alleviate pain and improve the healing in soft tissues.

The tapes are applied on the skin over the affected area. Different methods of taping are used for different conditions. At our clinic we see that they are most useful for knee, ankle, shoulder or wrist injuries.

There are many proposed benefits to KT, including: reduced muscle fatigue; reduced delayed-onset muscle soreness; pain inhibition; enhanced healing, such as reducing oedema, and improvement of lymphatic drainage and blood flow.
