Medical acupuncture (also known as dry needling) is a form of acupuncture which uses needles to stimulate muscle tissues to promote relaxation of the tissues and trigger a healing response.

It differs from traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture in that it is not used to stimulate meridians or channels of energy. It is used instead directly within the tight part band of a muscle, also known as trigger point or muscle knot. The insertion of the needle provides a very specific and targeted stimulation to the muscle, which in turn relaxes and allows appropriate blood flow and disposal of waste products to resume.

Diego Bertoldo Osteopathy clinic uses medical acupuncture at no additional cost in conjunction with osteopathy to achieve the best results from your treatments. It is a very popular addition to treatments and it is widely used by health care practitioners.

The decision to use or not acupuncture is based on the assessment of your conditions, then with your consent acupuncture might be used. Some patients explicitly request acupuncture when they have found it very effective in the past.
